National Share-A-Story Month commences today. The Federation of Children’s Book Groups created this month-long celebration in 1998 to appreciate the power of storytelling and story sharing, which provides opportunities to bring children and stories together.
The theme for May 2023 is ‘Sail Away in a Story!’ where readers are encouraged to find books and stories that sail them to a new adventure.

With school strikes taking place across England today and tomorrow, we know that many students are spending the day at home and many parents are seeking high quality learning materials that would keep students engaged academically.
At Trefoil Tutors, we regularly prepare additional revision materials that are academically engaging and tailored to each year group's curriculum in Mathematics, English and Science for students between Year 3 and Year 13. We are delighted to share these free resources with you in order to help keep students engaged on a day when regular learning may not be taking place. These assignments and corresponding answers are available on our website.

As we enter Week 3 of the Summer Term, we would like to remind students that this is the first assessment week of the Term. Students will be sitting a 20-minute assessment in their lessons this week. Some classes will not be given an assessment this week, for example, Reasoning students and some A Level classes. For these classes, a longer assessment will be given in Week 6.

With exam season on the horizon, Year 11 and Year 13 students are in the final stages of preparing for their GCSE and A Level examinations. This can be an incredibly stressful time for not only students but also their parents and it can often be challenging to strike the right balance between revision and respite in the coming weeks. To help support revision in our respective subjects, the Lead Tutors at Trefoil Tutors have written subject-specific advice for all of our students outlining how to best prepare for their upcoming examinations. This should act as a guide and help both reinforce and build upon the strategies already being used to ensure academic success. We hope students will find this a useful resource in structuring their revision time and tailoring their revision approach in order to prepare for the upcoming examinations.
Wishing all our students well during this revision period!

As we begin the Summer Term, it is often a time when many of our students find themselves wearing their cricket whites, hauling their gigantic cricket bags into the car and knocking-in bats, ready for another exciting cricket season. We thought it would be a good time to share this "little ripper" from The Cricketer, to add a little extra competition to those Saturday afternoons in the field!

The Junior Mathematics Challenge begins today, with Year 7 and Year 8 students competing for gold, silver and bronze certificates across the country.
This challenge, created by The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust is intended to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.
