Today is Red Nose Day!
Millions of people in the UK celebrate this day by wearing red noses and following the live telethon hosted by Comic Relief. You can watch this year’s broadcast on BBC One and BBC Two. For the first time, AJ Odudu and Joel Dommett will host the Red Nose Day night of TV alongside Zoe Ball, Paddy McGuinness and David Tennant.
Last year, Comic Relief raised £42 million, as almost five million viewers tuned in to the Red Nose Day broadcast across BBC channels.
Comic Relief was launched in 1985 by comedy script writer Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry as a way to raise money through the power of laughter.
Sir Lenny said: “The spirit of Red Nose Day is for everyone to get involved and to get the vibe of helping someone else that they don’t know, it’s always been that and what could be better?”
