We would like to wish all our students a cheerful and active Christmas break! With those dark nights stretching out and cosy winter days filled with festive potential, we thought we would share some of our favourite ways to spend the holidays, and new places that we are all looking forward to exploring!
There’s nothing quite like the scents and sounds of a Winter Market, and the Southbank Centre is a wonderful place to kindle those festive feelings. With dazzling decorations, and all sorts of interesting little stalls, it’s the perfect way to spend a December afternoon.
2. Kew Gardens light trail
Kew Gardens will be illuminated by sparkling lights and beautiful decorations this Christmas showcasing it in a whole new light. Experience the variety of attractions and excite your taste buds with foods from a range of street vendors over the Christmas break.
3. The Barbican Archive
The Barbican Centre has a huge and varied archive of their concerts and films online, allowing us to access all sorts of art from our own homes. Build a forest in your house, and learn how to bring art to life with a homemade zoetrope!
4. Winter Wonderland
A Christmas favourite! Experience a huge range of festive fun for all members of the family, from rides and games to a variety of shows, and enjoy an exciting day out full of Christmas spirit for all.
5. Take a Break and Meditate with Turner’s ‘Rain, Steam, and Speed’
Take five minutes away from the Christmas chaos and follow a guided meditation with the National Gallery, focusing on Turner’s ‘Rain, Steam, and Speed’.
6. Ice Skating at the Natural History Museum
Skating in the grounds of the awe inspiring Natural History Museum is a great way to truly feel connected to the magic of London this Christmas.
7. Watch a Pantomime
Keep the Christmas tradition alive by watching a pantomime from the comfort of your own home. Audience participation is mandatory! Ticket costs range from £25 to £50.
8. Christmas Science
