WORLD BOOK DAY

Lucy, March 2, 2023

Today, we celebrate World Book Day! Although it sometimes may seem that today is about fancy dress costumes rather than books, we would like to encourage our young readers to pick up a new book this week and nurture their good reading habits.

To help students explore different authors, styles and genres, as well as help them develop a love of literature, our Lead English Tutor Milda has compiled a list of twelve book recommendations for each year group from Year 3 to Year 11. The books on the list range from timeless classics to recent releases. As they go through the list, students will become familiar with the work of world-famous writers and meet iconic book characters.

PARENT TESTIMONIAL - DHRUV AND BALKRISHAN’S DAD

Lucy, Feb. 28, 2023

We are delighted to share with you the positive feedback contributed by the parents of students who have attended our group lessons and found these enjoyable and beneficial to their learning.

“In terms of the structure of the lessons and the group set-up, the boys have really enjoyed it. It’s in-keeping with what they would be accustomed to in a school environment which is quite nice. Rather than it being a formal one-to-one setting, a group environment keeps it consistent to what they’re used to. The subject matter can be challenging both from the aspect of the tutor, as well as the other students in the classroom, so everyone is there to improve from different angles and I think a varied environment from what they experience in school has, for my boys, certainly been very beneficial.”

ASH WEDNESDAY AND THE BEGINNING OF LENT

Lucy, Feb. 23, 2023

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent - a period of six weeks leading up to Easter.

Lent is a special time of reflection and faith, practised in prayer and by the act of giving up something. That “something” depends on the person observing Lent, with the main guidelines being that it has to be something that’s challenging to give up during this period. Millions of people give up something during Lent as a sign of sacrifice and to test their self-discipline.
